Future Primitive - TILT

This book traces the history of graffiti art through the evolution of Tilt's work. Graffiti writing, which is based on drawn and painted letters, is a movement that many writers, including Tilt, claim to be part of when they want to highlight their singularity and resistance to the "street-art turn" of visual art currently produced in public space. The artist drew his first "Tilt" tags in 1990 and from that moment on graffiti has been his life. For Tilt graffiti expresses a libertarian, anarchic and invasive relationship with the city, against architectural authoritarianism and the pervasiveness of advertising. The content does not necessarily have to carry any explicit political message: the gesture itself embodies an activist form of intervention on the territory.
